ABOUT THE BRAND

VISION

To shape a world where beauty, purpose, and responsibility coexist - where every object tells a story of intention, not excess.

MISSION

To design and deliver products that honour the life of materials, empower women through dignified work, and invite people into a slower, more mindful way of living.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At Alterlife, we see waste as potential. Each piece we create is a celebration of reuse; an ode to the textures, stories, and spirit of materials that would otherwise be discarded.

We don’t follow trends; we honour craft. Our commitment is to artful utility, conscious design, and everyday elegance. What we offer isn’t just a product, it’s a way of life - an Alterlife.

ABOUT THE FOUNDERS

Sonali Phadke

Co-Founder, Alterlife

With an engineering degree and deep roots in her family’s composites and plastics business, Sonali’s early career opened her eyes to both - the possibilities and the consequences of material use. Her journey into ecological sustainability began there and deepened through her association with The Ecological Society, Oikos for Ecological Services, and the Grassland Trust. From field surveys to eco-education, her work has spanned environmental research, conservation, and policy-driven advocacy.

At Alterlife, Sonali brings an ecological lens to everything — from materials to methods. She also leads the artistic and visual direction of the brand, shaping product aesthetics and design with a distinct creative sensibility. Her grounding in systems thinking and sustainability ensures the brand treads lightly while thinking long-term. For her, upcycling isn’t a trend — it’s a conscious shift towards balance.

Chaitrali Ghatnekar

Co-Founder, Alterlife

After a 20-year career in the IT industry, Chaitrali chose to step away from the corporate grind to pursue something more tactile, creative, and fulfilling. Her love for home design came naturally, as did her desire to create with purpose. A lifelong feminist, Chaitrali was clear from the outset: whatever she built had to contribute meaningfully to women’s empowerment.

At Alterlife, she leads with quiet conviction — blending aesthetics with advocacy, and design with dignity. She brings rigor to every detail — from product functionality to structural decisions. With her technical mindset, she bridges the intuitive and the intentional, ensuring that each piece is not only beautiful, but built to last.
